iCAN Digital Precision Cancer Medicine Platform welcomes Minna Anttonen, executive director of Association of Cancer Patients in Finland, as the patient representative member of the steering board. Anu Niemi, executive director of Rintasyöpäyhdistys – Europa Donna Finland ry, was nominated as her deputy member. Other members of the current iCAN steering board are Vice-rector Paula Eerola (chair), Dean Risto Renkonen, Director Olli Silvennoinen, Chief Medical Officer Markku Mäkijärvi an Research Director Anne Pitkäranta.
Patient empowerment work has already been initiated in the form of working group, chaired by Mirjami Tran Minh. “Patient empowerment and involvement is an integral part of today’s clinical research, and iCAN is doing pioneer work in Finland, setting the framework for new collaboration models in cancer research. I am very much looking forward to kicking off the Patient and Citizen Advocacy Board and working with the iCAN research groups”, says Tran Minh, Project Manager at the Association of Cancer Patients in Finland.
